I recently hosted a mini back-to-school party. To decorate, I made these simple back-to-school placemats. I am really happy with the way they came out! Not only do they look beautiful, but drawing on them keeps the kids entertained! Plus, I used the extra sheets as wrapping paper.
All you need to do is download the free placemat file and print it at your local office supply store.
I recommend printing the placemats on 17″ x 11″. Use regular paper or no-gloss cardstock. If you use glossy cardstock, the kids won’t be able to draw on them.
In my opinion, regular paper has the advantage. It’s inexpensive and you can also use it as wrapping paper. See the picture below. Cardstock is a bit more expensive and harder to fold if you choose to use it as wrapping paper.
With the extra placemats, I wrapped a few Back to School-themed books, new colored pencils, and a crayon box. Most school supplies are small, so you have a lot of options. Also, this paper can be a perfect option to wrap a teacher’s gift.
For small gifts, you can print the design at home on regular letter-sized paper.
Finish the look by tying the little gifts with ribbon, and a small school-related object. I found these cute gift tag apples at Target, but you can use chalk, pencils, or crayons.
