How to Make Beautiful Pine Cone Ballerinas

I am super excited to share with you how to make these beautiful pine cone ballerinas. I love the way they came out, and I am even happier at how easy they are to make.

When our daughter was two and a half years old, she began asking me to take her to ballet lessons. Most dance schools don’t accept little ballerinas until they are three or four. She insisted so much that I kept looking until I was lucky to find a class that would take her. She was hooked right away, and I was too. Not only did she look adorable, but her motor skills and balance improved quickly.

Yesterday, we were playing under our pine tree, and the kids asked if we could make crafts with the pine cones. Until yesterday, I only saw pine cones as Christmas decor, but these cute pine cone ballerinas have unleashed the crafty side in me.

So here is a craft for all the little ballerinas out there. Add glitter or feathers, let your imagination go and tag me on Instagram.

Materials

• Pine cones – Medium-sized
• Craft paint
• Paint brushes
• Small dishes for paint
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun
• Ballerina print out

Pine Cone ballerinas

Buy medium size pine cones. Mine are about 3 inches tall. Look for ones that are symmetrical with a flat bottom, and a tip on top, the tip will act as the neck; otherwise, the head will get buried. If you pick them off your yard, take the time to clean them, and prepared them. Here is a detailed tutorial from Brendid.com

1. Use a small paint brush to paint the top and bottom of each pine cone scale. Repeat this step in different colors.
2. While the pine cones dry, print out the ballerina pdf and cut.
3. Finally, use a hot glue gun to attach the face, arms, and legs. Remove any excess glue and have fun!
