The colors for this DIY back to school balloon backdrop are inspired by classic school supplies, such as; whiteboards, pink erasers, yellow pencils, blue striped notebook paper, and red apples.

This balloon backdrop turned out super cute and is super easy to make. Below is a step-by-step tutorial to make your own. Plus, the template to make the apple’s leaves.

Materials for Balloon backdrop

  1. First, attach the white and clear balloons to decorating strips. Don’t put them too close together; you need the gaps for the next step. Create as many columns as you need to cover your wall. The one in the picture has five columns. Then, secure each balloon column with a thumbtack at each end.
  2. Next, use pink balloons to fill in some of the gaps. ( 9-inch or 12-inch balloons are best for filling the gaps.)
  3. Now, use glue dots to add the small balloons.
  4. Finally, using a Cricut machine cut leaves on green card stock. Then, hole punch the bottom of each leaf and loop two leaves on each little red balloon. Again, use glue dots to adhere the apples to the balloon backdrop. Done!

This back to school balloon backdrop is small and somewhat quick to make, but I still recommend setting it up a day ahead of your event. The balloons will continue to look great, provided they are indoors and not in hot temperatures.

I hope you enjoy this DIY back to school balloon backdrop tutorial. It’s hard not to get excited for school with these bright and playful colors, right?
