Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, and Cinnamon Date Balls
Here is another sweet and delicious recipe. These oatmeal chocolate chip and cinnamon date balls are a favorite treat in our home, so much so, that I had to hide them from the family to take pictures.
This recipe is also an easy and quick treat to make with your kids. My three-year-old daughter loves making these date balls. She often makes them with dad, so she said she would teach me how to do them, LOL. As she put it, “You put the ingredients in the machine, you make balls, and then you are done.” See? Very simple.
Put the pitted dates in the food processor and chop until they have a peanut butter consistency, then add the raw cashews, ground cinnamon, and salt. Next, fold the oats and mini chocolate chips into the mixture with your hands. Finally, make bite-size balls and bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes.
Another thing to point out is the cinnamon in the recipe. There are two tablespoons of ground cinnamon. You read this right, so don’t worry about this. The cinnamon blends in perfectly, and it doesn’t overpower the dessert. I promise.
These date balls are debatably healthy. I know sugar is sugar, but dates are high in polyphenols (antioxidants), which help with inflammation. They also have vitamins, fiber, and potassium. Oats are a good source of protein and have plenty of vitamins and minerals. If you want to keep this recipe wholesome, then skip on the chocolate chips, the date balls will still come out delicious.
I really hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do. Let’s begin.
