Easy Homemade Bubble Bath Paint

This week I decided to use our bubble bath solution to make this easy homemade bubble bath paint. Usually, I give my kids quick baths and save the long baths for the weekends when we are not as busy. But now that we under quarantine, we have been taking extra long baths. While most people were stocking up on toilet paper, I was stocking up on bubble bath solution! Long baths have been a great relaxing activity for us. After we do our school work, we play outside, and then the kids take a long bath before dinner. This bath time activity is the best. The kids first painted the sides of the tub. Then they decided this was body paint, and then it turned into hair paint. Finally, they dumped the tray inside the water to see if they could make a rainbow. Spoiler alert: It does not turn into a rainbow, haha! A benefit of using bubble bath solution in this recipe is that once all the bubble bath paint is in the water, you get bubbles! Not a ton, but enough to keep them entertained for another while. Win, win, win.

Bubble bath paint recipe

This recipe yields enough paint to fill a small ice cube tray. I got mine at Ikea.

Instructions

  1. Pour bubble bath into a measuring cup. Next, add the corn starch and mix it with the popsicle stick. If the mixture is too runny, then add a little bit more cornstarch.
  2. Then, pour the mixture into the ice cube tray.
  3. Now, dip the tip of a popsicle stick into a bottle of finger paint and then put it in one of the ice cubes in the mold. Repeat this step until all your colors are mixed.
  4. Finally, get your paint brushes and head to the bath. Clear your schedule; this will take a while.
I hope you enjoy this activity. My six and three year old had so much fun. This was a super cute bonding activity for them. I hope your little ones enjoy it too. Find more fun DIY ideas here.
