These red, white, and blue panna cotta jars are the best dessert to watch the 4th of July fireworks.
If you have never tried panna cotta, then you need to run to your kitchen and make it, It is super simple to make, and it is one of the most delicious desserts ever!
The recipe I use is from Giada De Laurentiis. I dress it up in a festive way, and that is what I will show you, so let’s jump to it.
Red, white, and blue panna cotta jars
First, make a batch of panna cotta. I use this recipe from the Food Network. Skip the part where they tell you to pour it into wine glasses, and instead, transfer the panna cotta to a container and cover it with plastic wrap. Make sure the plastic wrap is touching the dessert; otherwise, there will be a skin on it. If that happens, remove it before serving.
While it sets, wash 2 cups of strawberries and 2 cups of blueberries and cut the strawberries into little chunks.
Then, prepare the jars. Use a wide decorating brush to apply piping gel to the rim of small mason jars.
Next, pour blue sanding sugar into a bowl and dip each mason jar in it. With your finger wipe off the sugar from inside the mason jar or the sanding sugar will bleed into the white panna cotta.
Once the panna cotta sets, add a spoon full of the strawberries to each jar and press lightly with the back of your spoon to prevent the panna cotta from sneaking thru the cracks of the berries. Then, add the panna cotta, and make sure to leave some space for the blueberries.
Enjoy!
The recipe that I use yields 6 servings. Since I use small mason jars, you will have enough to make 12 servings.
Also, I love using mason jars. They have many uses, look better than plastic cups, and are easy to store in the fridge. Cover each little dessert with only the metal insert and not the twist on part. Then place them in a large Tupperware and cover them until you are ready to eat. I purchased mine at Target.
