When life gives you grapefruits and Lemons, make Margaritas!
Fun fact; This post is inspired by National Margarita Day and National Grapefruit Month, both of which get celebrated in February.
I learned these fun facts around the same time my friends and family harvested homegrown lemons and grapefruits to share with us.
Having all this citrus around naturally points to making Margaritas. By February I have had my share of lemon pastries and need vitamin c to stay healthy. ?
This recipe yields two Margaritas. They are delicious, but strong so I figured a pitcher would be irresponsible, LOL. Adjust the measurements to your needs.
Also, use quality Tequila and fresh fruit. The goal is to enjoy the drink. Ok? Let’s begin;
Ingridients
- 3 grapefruits
- 2 lemons
- 3 – 4 shots of Tequila Blanco
- 1 shot Triple Sec
- 2 shots fresh Meyer lemon juice
- 4 shots fresh grapefruit juice
- Ice
- Salt to garnish rim
- Tajin seasoning to garnish rim
Margarita Time
First, wash grapefruits and lemons. Next, juice two grapefruits and cut the last one into rounds or quarters. Remove seeds. Then, juice the Meyer lemons into a separate cup. Remove seeds. Using a jigger to measure, pour 3 to 4 shots of Tequila Blanco, one shot of Triple Sec, two shots of lemon juice, four shots of grapefruit juice, and ice into a cocktail shaker. Shake for 15 seconds. Before pouring, garnish the rim of your glass. Pour any excess citrus juice into a plate and on another plate place salt and Tajin seasoning. Dip the rim on the juice first and then, on the salt and chili mixture. Now, pour this Winter grapefruit and lemon Margarita into a garnished coupe glass and enjoy!Winter Grapefruit and Meyer Lemon Margarita
