Simple Black and White Halloween Decor

Our home is decorated with neutral colors, I find them soothing and helpful when it comes to decorating for parties and holidays, so it’s no surprise that for Halloween I opt for simple black and white Halloween decor.

Every year I add more pieces to match my collection. I see the black and white decor as a great start; you can always add color with pumpkins, lights, flowers, candles, and balloons.

Trick or Treat

Let’s start with the candy. Keep the candy bowl next to the door on a small table. There is a lot of candy to pass out, so make things easier, don’t hurt your back, lifting all those treats, and while you are at it, decorate the space. I use a skull tablecloth as a backdrop and some mesh to cover an old folding table.

Silhouettes

Some of my favorite decorations for Halloween are mice and bat silhouettes. I purchased a set a few years ago at Target. I was able to reuse the little cut-outs for years until we got our puppy. He was also fascinated by them and pulled them off the wall.

Unfortunately, they don’t sell the cut-outs anymore. But, luckily, I am crafty and made some new ones to decorate my home and share it with you. Click here to download.

  1. First, print the silhouettes at home or take the file to your local printing store to print on cardstock.
  2. Next, use a craft knife to cut out all the silhouettes.
  3. Use glue dots to adhere the cut-outs to walls, stairs, backsplash, and baseboards.
  4. For the bats, fold a crease on the wings for a more realistic look. ( See the picture above.)
  5. Finally, to store remove the cutouts and glue them to sheets of wax paper. Fold gently and reuse them next year.

Table

To decorate the table, begin with a white tablecloth. Use big and small Cauldrons to serve your favorite treats; you are not limited to candy when it comes to this holiday. Use popcorn, nuts, fruit, cookies, and charcuterie to fill the table.

Sugar cookies are always a hit, so make a batch of this Vanilla Almond Cut Out Sugar Cookies ahead of time and have the kids decorate them with edible markers and petal dust.

Halloween is around the corner. I hope you find these simple black and white Halloween decor ideas useful and fun.
