Start the new year with these New Year’s bath bombs. Scented with lemon, lavender, and Neroli. Plus, cocoa butter to leave your skin glowing.

One of my new year’s resolutions is to have more relaxed moments. Sometimes just a few minutes of downtown is enough to recharge the mind and body.

I love bath bombs in general, but this is the first time I added cocoa butter to the recipe, and I don’t think I will ever skip this ingredient again! The essential oils in the bath bombs leave you relaxed, but the cocoa butter leaves the skin glowing. Win, win!

While you are at it share some with your friends and family. They make great gifts.

Bath Bomb Molds

For bath bombs, I like to use a large mold. I find them to be a perfect amount for the bathtub and I can hide small figurines when I make them for the kids.

Also, keep your eye out for molds that you might already have around your house. I make heart-shaped bath bombs with an empty candy plastic heart my son got for Valentine’s and a shell my daughter got from a LOL surprise doll.

Dry Ingredients

I find that it is cheaper to buy the ingredients in bulk. You can get baking soda in big bags at Target or most grocery stores.

Citric acid is usually sold in smaller batches so for that reason I prefer to order a large quantity from Amazon.

Besides using these ingredients to make bath bombs, They are great for cooking and cleaning or even entertaining the kids! When my son was little I would pour baking soda into a plate and give him a spray bottle filled with vinegar, the fizzy sounds entertained and relaxed him.

Epsom salt is used to relax aching muscles; this is why I think it is a must-have around your home and definitely in the bath bombs. It is also very easy to find in most stores or pharmacies.

Butters and Oils

Cocoa Butter is another one I buy in bulk because I can buy it for a lower price, plus, I can compare the quality online.

Coconut oil is easy to find in most retail stores like Target and is a great carrier oil to have around. It can be used just as-is to moisturize the skin and hair.

Essential Oils

I am a big fan of essential oils. I carry tea tree and Lavender in my purse, for headaches, bumps, and bug bites. For travel, I fill small bottles with lavender and citronella, to keep small insects away.

Around the house, I use them to make cleaning products, beauty products, and aide stuffy noses. They might not be the solution to everything, but they sure help.

Neroli comes from the blossom of the orange tree. It can be hard to find or a bit expensive. If you would like, substitute it with sweet orange.

Relax

I find the process of making bath bombs fun and relaxing. If you prefer to buy them already made I would recommend the store, Lush. I should note that they do not sponsor me, I like to go there when I don’t have time to make my own and want to treat myself. =)

The goal here is to take time to relax and recharge. Whether you make bath bombs or buy them, I hope in this new year you find some time to relax and treat yourself. Even a quick soak is better than none at all.
