Make this traditional Mexican hot chocolate using a few ingredients and following a few simple steps.
Ingredients + gadgets
- Mexican chocolate. This type of chocolate is available in most grocery stores. It comes in hard tablets that dissolve when boiled in milk. The tablets already contain sugar, so you don’t need to add more.
- Milk. Use 4 cups of Milk for every chocolate tablet.
- Molinillo or hand blender. A molinillo is a wooden frother if you don’t have one available use a hand blender instead. Using the molinillo or hand blender will give you a better tasting beverage, try not to skip this step.
- Cinnamon (optional)

- 4 Cups Milk
- 1 tablet Mexican hot chocolate.
- Cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Place milk and chocolate tablet in a large pot and bring to a boil.
- Mix with a wooden spoon until the chocolate tablet dissolves.
- Once, the chocolate tablet dissolves, insert the molinillo or hand blender to create a froth. Don't skip this part, the molinillo or hand mixer remove all the graininess and make the drink super smooth.
- Add cinnamon. (optional)
- Pour and enjoy!
