Ideas for a lovely brunch party – Love you a Brunch!
Here are some ideas to host a lovely brunch party. I call this a love you a brunch party. I put together this party for my sister which I love very much!
Inspiration
The decorations for this brunch party are very simple, the food and the flowers add all the beauty you need to wow your guest. The large Love You A Brunch! sign is made out of canvas and two wood laths. You can find the instructions here.
To add color, use fresh flowers. The roses, carnations and baby breath flowers here are very inexpensive and easy to find in most grocery stores. To make things easy, assemble your flower arrangements the night before your event and place them in a cool place; such as a refrigerator or a cold garage.
Also, instead of using linen, I used 36″ wide poster paper to cover the table. Why haven’t I’ve done this sooner? This paper looks great, I gave the little kids pencils to color on it, and after the party, it went right to the trash. Forget about linen or plastic tablecloths! Poster paper is the way to go.
This party was a joy to do, let me break it down,
Centerpiece
Brunch parties are all about delicious food and drinks. For this party, the food was laid out in a large wood plank (72″ L x 9″ W x 1″ H). This large wood plank took the place of a centerpiece and let me tell you; it was beautiful and practical.
Serving the food this way is like a having a buffet at your fingertips. On it are the following;
- Flatbread pizza topped with arugula and prosciutto
- Fresh Fruit – grapes, strawberries, and blueberries
- Gourmet bread and crackers
- Variety of cheeses
- Olives
- Salami
- Homemade pickled jalapeñosÂ
To make this display, first, place one Flatbread pizza at each end, so the guests don’t have to get up or reach too far.
Next to the flatbread pizzas place loaves of fresh bread or crackers.
Then, olives and Homemade pickled jalapeños.Â
Then, on the center of the wood plank place a variety of cheeses and salami.
Lastly, scatter fruits and fresh flowers (roses, carnations, and baby breath ) between all of the large appetizers to complete this beautiful appetizer tray.
Clean up will be a breeze because you don’t have to use a million serving platters. Wash one long wood plank with soap and water and done.
The wood plank that I used was a leftover piece that I saved from the wood countertops we installed in our pantry. Ikea sells wood countertops that are durable and are meant to be around humidity and food. I knew this piece of wood would come in handy one day and it did!
Additional Menu
Other items that made it to the menu, but not the centerpiece were;
- Ham and Cheese Croissants
- Thick-cut bacon
- Baked hashbrown and cheese cups
- Carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting
The croissants are as simple as they sound. The only important step with them is to melt the cheese before you serve. Before your guests arrive cut all the croissants in half, add a slice of cheese to each bottom half and place them in the oven until the cheese melts. After
The original hash brown cups recipe has an egg and more cheese on top, but I think they are just as good by themselves, that is why we served them plain.
Also, the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting you see here is from the Food Network. I have made this recipe more times than I can remember. My family loves this cake and they get excited every time I make it. You can see the full recipe here. (I am not sponsored by the Food Network, I only want to share the best carrot cake recipe that I have found.)
To decorate the cake I used roses, carnations, and baby breath flowers. Place a toothpick on each flower, start with the biggest flower on top, then secure the baby breath flowers with floral wire, and lastly add smaller flowers to fill the gaps. The toothpick trick is amazing! I don’t know if this is a common thing to do, but I am happy to have learned it from this super fine baker here.
Drinks
- Mimosas with fresh squeezed orange juice
- Bloody marys
- Lemon, cucumber and
straberry infused water
We had a variety of drinks available, I don’t know about you but, If I get invited to a brunch I immediately think I will have a mimosa or a bloody mary, So these were available to our guest.
To display the champagne and Vodka make these Floral and fruity ice buckets. Making these beauties takes a few days, but it is worth it. I like my decor to be beautiful but also serve a purpose, and these do. I was worried that they would melt too fast, but surprisingly they last a pretty long time.
Besides chilling the champagne in the floral ice buckets, you can make fresh squeezed orange juice. We use a KitchenAid juicer attachment and making it is a breeze. All you need is 12-14 juicy oranges and two water/wine carafes with lids to refrigerate overnight.
For bloody mary’s we use this mix. I highly recommend it, because it’s tangy and delicious. Just writing about it makes my mouth water. Lol
Finally, to take a break from the spirits make a large pitcher filled with filtered water, one lemon, one cucumber, and three strawberries cut into rounds and refrigerated overnight to infuse the water. The strawberries sink and lose their beauty when they sit overnight, so remove the strawberries and add ice before serving or skip them altogether if you don’t want the pink tint in your water.
