Homemade lotion bars with only three ingredients

We are in week one of the covid-19 quarantine. Luckily, we are in good health and staying busy, but all this handwashing has my hands hurting, so I decided to make some heavy-duty homemade lotion bars with only three ingredients.

Right now is not a good time to run out and go shopping, but if you happen to have Shea butter, cocoa butter, and beeswax around, then get to work. If not, hopefully you can find the ingredients online and get them delivered. This is a quick DIY lotion that is all-natural and will protect and rehydrate your hands and body! If you’re feeling extra dry during this quarantine, give these a try and I promise they’ll add some much-needed moisture.

Ingredients

Divide equal parts of each ingredient. This recipe yields four lotion bars, but you can double the recipe to make more. I used;

Instructions

  1. Fill the bottom of a double boiler with water and bring to a boil.
  2. Once the water has boiled, add all the ingredients and stir until they completely melt.
  3. Then, fill a silicone cube mold with the mixture.
  4. Finally, let the mixture cool completely and come to room temperature. Remove each cube from the silicone mold and enjoy!
  5. Place each lotion bar on a ceramic plate next to your sink. When not in use, store each bar in a plastic bag or a small mason jar. These three ingredients have a high melting point, but you still don’t want to risk having them without a container.

I did add a few drops of essential oils to some of the cubes, but I didn’t feel like it made a difference. The beeswax has a delightful smell on its own, so I decided to save the essential oils for another project.

Here is another DIY recipe to save your hands.
