How to make chains with Felt instead of paper chains
Make felt chains instead of paper chains; they take the same amount to make however you can reuse these!
This year I set out to decorate my house with the same enthusiasm of an elf. LOL. To be more specific I wanted to decorate my house like Buddy the elf does in my favorite Christmas movie Elf.
I love how the felt chains came out, so I want to share how I made them with you. Let’s begin;
Materials
Felt Chains
Begin by placing a sheet of felt on the cutting mat.
Then, place the clear acrylic ruler on top and use the rotary cutter to cut 2-inch by 9-inch strips.
Each sheet will yield six pieces which in turn gives you about 1 foot of chain. Use this guide to provide you with an idea for how many sheets you will need.
Then, grab a strip of felt and form the first loop. Attach with the felt glue.
Continue adding links until you have formed a long chain. Repeat this step to make as many chains as you need.
Drying tips
Lay the chains to dry in a row; if you roll them too soon, they will come apart.
Although, most felt glues says “fast drying” it is best to let them dry overnight or until the glue feels hard.
Hanging tips
The felt will stretch, so be sure to hang it a bit higher than you would like, trust me they will sag overnight.
Also, hang snowflakes in between the felt chains. I purchased paper snowflake garlands. Then, I secured each snowflake to the string with a piece of tape and cut the rope in half to hang.
I hope you share my affinity for elf culture and make these felt chains to decorate your home.
