how to host a fun Soccer Party for kids

This post is full of DIY ideas for your soccer party. I have included a printable coloring placemat and the link to make personalized number cups for your players.

Invitation

Let’s begin with the invitation. As crafty as I am, I have to admit that I am terrible at printing and sending invitations, (the same applies to holiday cards), I find it much easier to send a digital invite from Evite or Etsy. The one below is from Evite. This service was extra helpful because I changed the party location and time last minute due to the weather. ?

Decor

Use a Cricut to customize reusable party cups. Instead of printing each player’s name, use their number. That way they won’t lose the cup during the party, and they can take it home as a souvenir. Go here to print the numbers. If you don’t own a Cricut, then, find 2-inch number stickers.

It has been many years since I have used helium balloons for a party, I mostly rely on a balloon inflator pump to make balloon garlands. The venue we picked for our party prohibited any use of tape, 3M products, or thumbtacks, so I made a tiny exception and only decorated with a few helium soccer balloons.

As you might know, there is a shortage of helium, and the party supply stores around me are not selling many helium balloons at the moment. If you want to decorate as I did then, you need a helium tank to inflate your balloons at home. Close the air release handle tight after each use.

Instead of buying weights for the balloons, attach the helium balloons to your party favors. The soccer balls in the picture are from Party City. They came with a poncho inside (See Here). Gift the poncho or replace it with soccer favors and candy.

Use biodegradable plates, utensils, and napkins if possible. Besides being better for the planet, they are much sturdier than the paper options.

Add fun quotes or inside jokes with letter boards.

Also, download the coloring placemat by clicking on the image below. Go to your local printing store and have them print the image on 11 x 17 regular paper. Thick or glossy paper won’t be good for coloring. Also, make sure they enlarge the image to fit the whole page; this placemat is intended to go over the margins. Don’t forget to get crayons.

Foosball

The obvious game to play at a soccer party is soccer, but if the party is inside, then a small foosball table is still a fun idea for the kids and grownups. I was concerned that my little table would be ignored as just another party prop, but the kids played with it the whole time and had a lot of fun.

Stay Organized

Like I mentioned above, It was unfortunate to have to change the party time and venue, but it happens. Originally our party was to be held at the park, I had water balloons, soccer balls, and other outdoor activities ready to go. But our party at an arcade turned out fun and much easier.

If you need to take your party to go, or just want to stay organized before and during the party. Then, I would highly recommend using plastic crates. I used them to keep all my party purchases in one place and I carry them as I decorate.
