DIY Easter Egg Surprise Bath Bombs
Make these giant Easter egg bath bombs with only a few ingredients and also add a small toy inside to surprise your kids in the bath.
This recipe yields one large egg and a few small bath bombs. To create different color eggs you will need to do a few batches.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of baking soda
- 1 cup of citric acid
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp of coconut oil (melted)
- 1 Tbsp of Baby Bubble Bath
- Lavender essential oil
- Food coloring gels
- Witch Hazel (in a spray bottle)
- Gloves (optional)
- Large egg mold
- Small easter toy
Mix dry ingredients
First, combine baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch in a large mixing bowl.
Mix wet ingredients
Now, melt coconut oil.
Then, add the coconut oil, baby bubble bath, and lavender essential oil to a small mixing bowl and combine.
Usually, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA) is used in bubble baths to create a foaming effect. Instead of using pure SLSA, I use Baby bubble bath, to create the same result. All you need is a small amount, and you can use the rest of the bottle for fun bubble baths.
Also, I like to use a lot of essential oils in my bath bombs. Use as much as you want or tolerate. Lavender has a nice soothing effect on kids; however, you can also use chamomile, vanilla, sweet orange, or lemon.
Combine & Mold
Now, add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined.
Also, at this time you can add a drop or two of food coloring gel to the mixture until you achieve your desired color. When I think of Easter, all I see is pastel colors, so I added minimal coloring to my batch. Mix on last time.
Finally, using a spray bottle filled with witch hazel. Spray the mixture in 5 spray intervals. 15 -20 sprays should be enough.
To test the consistency, grab a handful of the mixture in your hand and squeeze if it crumbles add more witch hazel. If it stays in one lump, then you are ready to mold.
Now, fill a large egg mold with the mixture. With your finger create a cavity in the center and add a small toy.
Lastly, press the mold together and separate. Leave the egg to rest on the counter overnight.
Enjoy!
While you are at it, make these rose + lavender + vanilla bath bombs for yourself.
