Decorate your Day of the Dead table with traditional marigold flowers, fresh fruit, and Sugar Skulls.

Green Garland

Begin by placing a green garland. Garlands are beautiful and instantly brighten any table. Make out fresh branches or buy bouquets of dried leaves to make the one pictured here.

Sugar Skulls

Next, place undecorated sugar skulls on the garland. Here is a tutorial for making them, they are very easy to make. Leave them plain to obtain this look or decorate with royal icing for a bright and colorful look.

Fresh Fruit

This table decor incorporates the traditional colors for decorating on Day of the Dead. The orange color is used to guide the spirits; purple represents mourning and white is symbolizes heaven.

Also, the purple fruit you see in the picture is a prickly pear; you can purchase at a Mexican grocery market. The stores do a good job at removing the thorns, but as the name implies, they are prickly so handle with care, so you don’t end up with a thorn in your fingers. Ouch.

If you are unable to find purple prickly pears, use pomegranates instead or use any other purple accent.

Candles

Another essential part of any Day of the day celebration is the candles they also guide the spirits.  These flameless candles give a subtle light and have a great scent.

Marigolds

Finally, where I live is hard to get marigolds this time of year, so I made marigolds with tissue paper and green pipe cleaners. Click here for the tutorial.

In Conclusion

Finally, Add as many Day of the dead components to your table. Don’t forget to make delicious Mexican hot chocolate and Day of the dead bread.

Do you celebrate this Holiday? If so, what are your traditions?
