Ideas For A Little Mermaid Birthday Party

This Little Mermaid Birthday Party is so special to me. My daughter turned three, and we had fun planning and decorating for her birthday party. I already enjoy decorating and planning parties, but her excitement fueled me to make this party even more special.

Invitation

Like I have mentioned before, I grab a lot of inspiration from invitations. I love the subtle colors from this invitation I found on Etsy.

Kids Table

The small tables are from Pottery Barn Kids and the folding chairs are rentals. I purchased the tables because they are easy to store plus I can use them for many other parties. Each chair cost about two dollars to rent and you can always rent a different style to match your party theme. For the table settings, I cut shell-shaped placemats with the Cricut; here is the tutorial and template. I used sea blue scalloped rim plates with small shell napkins on top, white pearl cups, and silver paper straws. The space in between is complete with seashells that the kids can take home.

Dinglehoppers

You can’t have a little mermaid party without dinglehoppers! To make these delicious cookies;

1. Make this Vanilla Almond Cut Out Cookie Recipe
2. Then, use a fork shape cookie cutter and bake.
3. Once, the cookies are completely cool, gently dip the forks into melted chocolate wafers: To get the light purple mix 2 cups of white vanilla wafers and 1/4 cup of purple wafers.
4. Finally, sprinkle each dinglehopper cookie with white and silver sugar sprinkles.

The shells and star cookie cutters are also from Etsy.

Backdrops & Decor

Balloon Curtain

This balloon curtain is simple to make, but I won’t lie, it is time-consuming, so I recommend setting it up one or two days before your party.

To make, you need the following;

• Balloon decorating strips
• Clear thumbtacks
• Balloons in at least 4 different colors
• Balloon inflator pump
• Glue dots (I get mine at Hobby Lobby)
• Step ladder

1. First, use the balloon pump to inflate 10 – 12 balloons per column.
2. Next, attach the balloon Deco strip to the wall with a thumbtack.
3. Then, attach the balloons to the decorating strip, not too close to each other or they won’t be straight when you connect the second column.
4. Cut the deck strip at the bottom and secure it to the wall with another thumbtack.
5. Repeat the steps above to add more balloon columns. Use glue dots as you go to keep the balloons straight.

Little Mermaid

What can make this party more magical? A visit from the little mermaid herself! I was so lucky to find A Magical Day here in Las Vegas; they pay attention to every single detail to make the princess visit magical. My daughter and all our little guest were super entertained. I can’t even explain their little enchanted faces. Let me note that I didn’t get any discount or sponsorship for saying this. I truly feel like they made my daughter’s birthday magical and I want to share my experience.

Gadgets and Gizmos

Instead of handing out party favors, I let the kids find their own treasure in a chest full of jewelry, gold coins, pearl necklaces, and star-shaped nail polish.

Life is the bubbles

This little bucket full of bubbles is my nod to Sebastian. I found the Little Mermaid font on Etsy and printed the quote on white vinyl. Also, I left more gold coins and seashells in the sandbox for the kids to find.

Cake

The cake recipe is from Sugar Spun Run. This Funfetti Cake from Scratch is fun to make and delicious. I doubled the recipe to make mine.

The cake is sprinkled with sugar sprinkles and sugar pearls, and topped with new little mermaid bath toys. I used my Vanilla Almond Cut Out Sugar Cookie Recipe to make the letter cookies.
