Tissue paper flowers are super easy to make. They can be used to make backdrops, centerpieces, cake toppers, headbands, etc.
I mainly use paper flowers to decorate for Day of the Dead. But these flowers are colorful and beautiful to decorate for any occasion. Here is a quick tutorial.
Materials
If you are making a lot of paper flowers a cutting mat and rotary tool are going to be your best friends. You will get perfect squares and save time.
Instructions for paper flowers
First, fold the tissue paper in half. Make another fold along the same side until you have one long strip. Cut along the sides and keep all the pieces of paper together.
Next, cut the long strips into squares. This tutorial used 5 x 5 squares. After cutting the squares, you should end up with 3-4 squares of 4 layers each.
Make 1/2 inch folds to form an accordion.
Afterward, cut an arch on both ends. Make sure to cut each layer, sometimes after each fold, the papers shift.
Bend one pipe cleaner along the middle of your folded paper and twist it at the bottom to secure it. Spread the folded paper.
Finally, separate every layer of paper. Be gentle to avoid tearing. Fold the ends inward to form a round shape on the flower.
Done! Repeat a bunch of times to make beautiful and colorful decorations. In no time you will have a bouquet of beautiful tissue paper flowers.
