Xoxo Valentine’s Day Ideas for a Little Kids Party
Here are some ideas to surprise your kids with a mini Valentine’s Day party;
XOXO Backdrop
I bought a roll of poster paper in January, and I am obsessed. It is super versatile and affordable. I often use canvas fabric for my projects, but besides being expensive, once you make a mistake, it is hard to recover from it. Poster paper is also great to use as a table runner; you can see here how I used it for this brunch party. It also works as wrapping paper! Ok, I’ve made my point, let’s make the backdrop now.
First, to make the XOXO backdrop, measure the area that you want to decorate. If you are making a backdrop for photos leave extra paper to cover the floor. See below how my assistant demonstrates. 😂
Next, use tape or glue to secure the paper to a long wood stick.
Now, add an eye hook to each end, this will allow you to attach a string to hang it.
Once the canvas is ready, hang it on the wall with a thumbtack.
After the canvas is secured, draw a line of X’s and O’s with a pencil and use a ruler to help you with the spacing. Then, use acrylic paint and a 1-inch sponge brush to paint over the pencil. Do one line at a time.
Repeat, until all the canvas is full.

Balloon Garland
I am sure by now you have seen thousands of balloon garlands. I don’t get tired of them because they are beautiful to look at and fun to make. Here is how I make mine.
First, inflate balloons of different colors and sizes (12″, 9″, and 5″ ). The large ones should match the main theme and the little ones are for accent. I use a balloon inflator pump, this little machine is a game-changer because it doesn’t take a lot of space and is very affordable. I haven’t had to buy Helium in years!
Next, Using a balloon decorating strip. Measure the length you need and secure to the wall with thumbtacks. I did an L- Shape to frame the XOXO Valentine’s backdrop. Now, add the biggest balloons first while mixing the colors. Use glue dots to keep them from shifting and finally glue the smaller balloons to fill in the cracks.
Felt Envelopes
Each year I give the kids a new book for Valentine’s Day. It is usually a book related to the holiday or about feelings and love. This year I picked The Book With No Pictures for my son and Dear Girl for my daughter. They are wonderful!
Instead of wrapping the books, I personalized the felt envelopes I bought at Target. Here is how;
First, Use a Cricut machine to type and cut your message (1-inch letters). The Vinyl was giving me issues, so I switch the blade and cut the letters on cardstock instead.
Next, using the Cricut spatula lift one
If you don’t have a cutting machine, find already cut letters in the scrapbooking section of your craft store and follow the steps above.
Also, while you have the Cricut out, make large pink hearts with vinyl to use as placemats and use a dry-erase marker to write a message.
Treats
I found this marble mug tree at Target and honestly thought “What a wonderful donut holder.”
Add mini donuts to it and serve with strawberry milk.
Crafts
I Love that toddlers love to make crafts as much as I do. We decorated felt hearts and talked about our day.
