Make these easy pompoms for your next football party. They are simple and useful decorations, as they will keep you from shaking your friends when you get too excited while watching the game.
First, let me mention that each pompom you see pictured here uses two sheets of tissue paper. I find that I get prettier results by cutting one paper at a time.
Begin by folding the tissue paper in half, and then, cut along the edge with the craft knife. Be consistent with the folds you make or the pompoms will have different lengths. (Also, If you don’t have a craft knife, use scissors, but work slowly to prevent tears or uneven results).
Then, make another fold. Don’t cut any edges at this point. The uncut edge in this step will be the side that is attached to the wood dowel.
Now, make another fold and cut along the edge again with the craft knife.
Next, place the tissue paper sheets on the cutting mat. Put the acrylic ruler on top and use the craft knife to make long cuts every half an inch, beginning 1 inch away from the uncut edge.
Finally, attach the tissue paper to the wood dowel with tape. Fold it tightly and secure it with more tape.
Also, I chose this size dowel because it is comfortable to hold and also because that is what I had available in my home. You can use any length or width you can find. Most craft stores carry a variety of wood dowel options.
Now you are done and ready to party!!! Shake, shake, shake.
